Stripe Payment Links leave you as the merchant. That is a different question from Gumroad, Polar, or Lemon Squeezy collecting tax on the buyer’s purchase as a Merchant of Record. This page restates Stripe’s Canada “Required Regulatory Disclosures” fee tables as fetched 22 September 2026. It is not tax, legal, or accounting advice. Stripe defines card-not-present as a card that was not electronically read, for example an online payment. Annex B of the Canada disclosures lists Visa Classic, Visa Infinite, Visa Debit, MasterCard Classic, MasterCard Debit, American Express, Discover Consumer, Interac Debit, and the other domestic rows in that table at 2.9% + CA$0.30 for card-not-present. Card-present on those same domestic rows is 2.7% + CA$0.05, except Interac Debit card-present at CA$0.15. A Payment Link for a download is card-not-present.
On a nine-dollar ticket that domestic card-not-present tape is 2.9% of 9.00 plus CA$0.30, or CA$0.561, so you keep about 8.44 before disputes. Stripe’s same annex says rates may vary where IC+ pricing applies, and that each rate is set by the card network and is subject to change.
The international table on the same page lists Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Diners Club, and a catch-all “International cards presented in CAD” row at 3.7% + $0.30 card-not-present. International cards presented in USD are 3.7% + US$0.30. A Canadian seller charging CAD still pays the international row when the card is not domestic.
Because you are the merchant, Stripe Payment Links do not answer the CRA small-supplier tests by themselves. You still report the income in Canada. Stripe’s Canada disclosures: the Card Dispute Received Fee is $15.00 regardless of the outcome of the dispute. The same annex lists a separate Card Dispute Countered Fee of $15.00 when you contest a dispute, and that countered fee is returned if the dispute is resolved in your favour. This page does not add those two fees into one number. The same annex also lists a Smart Disputes preview row at 30% of the disputed amount won, with the countered fee waived, and separate Dispute Prevention rows. Those rows are not the card-not-present tape.
